Chemical Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

The apprenticeship lasts 3 years and leads to the federal certificate of competence CFC.

Theoretical and practical training:

The first 3 semesters of your apprenticeship will take place full-time at the Intercantonal Professional School of Chemistry (EPIC) in Monthey.

The last 3 semesters will take place in a company at CIMO, under the responsibility of a trainer, with theoretical courses at EPIC one day per week.

At the end of the first 3 semesters at EPIC where you will have become familiar with the basics of the profession, you will join the central laboratory of CIMO.

There you will discover analyses mainly performed on water, soil, and air. You will have the opportunity to rotate between 2 laboratories where you will be trained, among other things, in AVH methods (Wet Chemistry Analysis) and CGL (Gas Liquid Chromatography).

Your days will be paced by sample preparation, analyses, and reporting of results. You will also discover instrumental analytics dedicated to identifying and quantifying organic micropollutants.

To carry out these various tasks, you will be assisted by high-tech instruments capable of analyzing the infinitely small.
