Head Nurse of the Care Unit (ICUS) for the Operating Room
To complete its team, the children's hospital operating room is looking for a Head Nurse of the Care Unit (ICUS) with an activity rate between 80% - 100%, starting March 1, 2026, or a date to be agreed upon for a 6-month fixed-term contract.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
Within the Women-Mother-Child Department (DFME), the Pediatric Surgery Service provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for children and adolescents from 0 to 18 years old. It works closely with other department services, including neonatology, pediatrics, adolescent medicine, gynecology, and obstetrics.
The children's hospital operating room, open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., consists of a multidisciplinary technical platform with 5 operating rooms dedicated to elective and emergency surgical interventions as well as a recovery room with 9 beds.
Mission
- You ensure the quality of patient care admitted to the operating room in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- You ensure the planning, supervision, evaluation, and training of a care team composed of 16 employees
- You organize and supervise teaching and training activities for the staff
- You participate and collaborate in project implementation
- You guarantee the smooth daily running of the operating schedule (personnel, equipment).
Profile
- You hold a nursing diploma with specialization in the operating field (as well as Red Cross recognition for staff with foreign diplomas) or a diploma as an ES technician in the operating room (TSO)
- You have authorization to practice in the Canton of Vaud or have submitted an application to the Vaud Public Health Service
- You have several years of professional experience in an operating room, including in the sectors mentioned above, which is an asset
- You hold a team management certificate, an asset
- You have organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills
- You are dynamic, have initiative, openness, and decisiveness
- You have interpersonal and communication skills
- You have computer knowledge.
Depending on the candidate's experience, the salary level is between 10 and 11.
