Who are we?
The Cultural Heritage Service of the State of Fribourg identifies, documents, protects and conserves the cultural heritage of the canton of Fribourg. To do so, it provides the necessary information, advice and assistance to the competent authorities and owners. Furthermore, it promotes knowledge and respect for cultural assets through publications, awareness-raising activities and the maintenance of documentation. Spatial planning and monitoring restoration work on protected buildings are among its essential tasks.

Your tasks
- Replacement for a 4-month maternity leave, with possibility of extension to a permanent contract from September 2027
- Monitor files, projects and permit application procedures concerning protected buildings or sites
- Follow spatial planning files and procedures and handle related appeals
- Provide necessary advice to applicants and draft opinions for the relevant authorities
- Process subsidy applications and monitor the works
- Ensure the establishment and monitoring of documentation and restoration reports for the files handled
- Collaborate with other sections of the Service, as well as in awareness-raising and training activities. Contribute to the development of internal tools and cross-sectional projects
Desired profile
- University of Applied Sciences or Master’s degree in architectural history, architecture or art history; training in heritage conservation or urban planning would be an advantage
- Proven experience in monitoring restoration/conservation works
- Very good understanding of historic buildings and structures; ease in reading plans and technical documents
- Good understanding of legal bases and spatial planning issues
- Proven negotiation, communication and argumentation skills in delicate contexts
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills with stress resistance
- Driving licence (category B, manual and automatic)
- Fluency in German (external communication language), with good understanding of French (internal working language)
