Annual Report 2019
KIBE Region Huttwil
Fit for the Future
Editorial
Since the merger of TEV and the sponsoring association in 2016, we have been constantly undergoing change, accompanied by the property issue and the switch to the childcare voucher system. The board has proactively tackled these challenges and reaped the results of this proactivity in 2019.
With the KIBE-Huus, a community house was created, a place that embodies all our activities. The KIBE-Huus Huttunäscht is our home. It is an incredibly good feeling to stand in front of this house and sense that this is where KIBE Region Huttwil is at home. The Huttunäscht radiates security and stability. Much work was needed before it came to this, not only from the board but especially from the staff. Unfortunately, the change did not pass the staff without leaving a mark. Some chose a different path, and our thanks for all their efforts are assured.
Everything is prepared for the switch to childcare vouchers. We can only make the change when the municipalities are also ready for it. Much work will also be required from the staff in this regard. Certainly for the services team, but also the carers will have numerous discussions among themselves and with the parents handing over regarding the topic of childcare vouchers. Together we will overcome this hurdle as well.
The board is already dealing with the next questions: What are the consequences of the childcare voucher system? How do we organise ourselves when liberalisation stimulates competition and decisions need to be made that are both quick and well-founded? Do we enter partnerships with competitors, and if so, with whom?
Many open questions remain, but they are no longer existential. We can approach them calmly because KIBE Region Huttwil is ready. Not only on the board but especially in the daily childcare routine. It is always about the children, and we should and want to never forget that.

President
Afterword: While I was writing this report, the Corona crisis reached us. The staff reacted fantastically to the changed conditions. It fills me with pride to be president of an organisation with such wonderful staff.
Flight into the Huttunäscht
Already at the beginning of the year, we knew that the move into the new KIBE house would particularly shape 2019. However, it quickly became clear that we had to be patient a little longer for the move, as the former staff house of SRO AG at Spitalstrasse 53 in Huttwil was specially converted for us, and this took longer than initially thought. So we had enough time to enjoy the other highlights of the year.
On 16 March, the KITA was allowed to participate for the fourth time in the Huttwil carnival parade. Under the motto "schregi Vögu" (quirky birds), the little and big birds flew around the town and once again enjoyed the unique atmosphere.
Also this year, we were able to hold four exciting lecture evenings for our staff in the KITA and day families, as well as for the handing-over parents and all interested persons, on the topics of "pampering", "grief processing", "communication" and "refresher first aid". The first aid refresher course was conducted in cooperation with the Samaritan Association Huttwil. For the other courses, we were able to engage Doris Jakob, an individual psychologist. The many participants were able to take away a great treasure of new insights, ideas and impulses from these course evenings.
For the carers in the day families, in addition to these courses, we offered exchange evenings and day parent meetings where current topics could be discussed and networking among carers could take place.
In May, the CampusSpektakel took place at Campus Perspektiven. This well-attended public event with many participating clubs from the region was under the motto "Movement". KIBE Region Huttwil was also involved with an offering at this folk festival. Our movement offering revolved around the theme of children's yoga.
The time in the first half of the year flew by, and soon it was time for the KITA children from Lerchenäscht and their parents to say goodbye to some long-standing KITA staff and let them fly from our group nest into new trees.
Especially at this time, it was very important to us to once again express a big thank you to our approximately 60 staff for their incredibly great commitment, which they provide for KIBE Region Huttwil day after day and week after week. Therefore, on 30 August, we organised a staff barbecue at the Schüpbach family on Nyffenegg. In wonderful summer weather with a beautiful sunset and cheerful atmosphere, this event was greatly enjoyed. And some of the staff were amazed at who all works and helps in the same organisation to offer a diverse and professional care service in the region.
The second half of the KIBE year was then entirely dedicated to the renovation. Many decisions were made at numerous construction meetings. A moving team organised the move of the two KITA groups. The staff prepared the children for the move. Many extra hours were worked and many drops of sweat wiped away. But it was worth it. The renovated house, realised by SRO-AG, took shape more and more and became a beautiful KIBE building. Now only a name was missing for this new home of KIBE Region Huttwil. A competition was held for staff and handing-over parents to find a suitable name. The jury was able to choose from numerous submitted ideas and finally decided on the name "Huttunäscht", which was submitted by a handing-over family. This name unites on the one hand the two KITA groups "Eulenäscht" and "Lerchenäscht" and on the other hand expresses that children and their parents may feel safe with us. The KIBE-Huus Huttunäscht is also the nest of all our activities around KIBE Region Huttwil and the home for all our areas of work.
In the background, besides the move, the topic of "childcare vouchers" also occupied us this year. We attended information events and dealt with the consequences of childcare vouchers for KIBE Region Huttwil. The municipality of Huttwil and the surrounding municipalities decided to introduce childcare vouchers only in January 2021, which gave us the opportunity to postpone some preparations to 2020.
On 9 November, we were able to hold the traditional Kasperlitheater for young and old for KIBE Region Huttwil. The play performed by the Bänninger family, titled "Gluntschi in the Blue Lake", again attracted numerous guests this year. The exciting story of the princess and Gluntschi made the children's eyes shine. Afterwards, in the "Cheschtele" restaurant, Gluntschi syrup and a piece of cake were enjoyed in a cosy gathering.
In December, the time had come. The boxes were packed and the move was imminent. All children and staff flew excitedly and with great anticipation into the new Huttunäscht and got to know the new rooms and surroundings together. The group rooms were furnished with much love and dedication, and the offices for management and staff in the services area as well as for the team leaders of day families and group leaders of KITA took shape. We were joyfully received and welcomed by Dahlia and SRO.
On 14 December, we were able to give an exclusive tour for the parents of the KITA children and present our "Huttunäscht".
A year-long flight with many stops and a beautiful destination comes to an end. We sincerely thank everyone who helped support us in any way during this eventful year.
