Food Safety and Animal Health Office | 80-100% | Chur
Department of Public Economy and Social Affairs. In the cantons of Graubünden and Glarus, it ensures protection against epizootics, compliance with animal protection as well as control of primary animal production. To protect against unsafe or misleading foodstuffs and consumer goods, it also supervises the production and distribution chains of the companies concerned.
For the 1st July 2027 or by agreement, we are looking for a head of the Food Safety and Animal Health Office (with simultaneous function as cantonal veterinarian).
- Management of the service with around 80 employees
- Organisational, personnel and financial responsibility for the service
- Ensuring efficient implementation of the laws within the competence of the service in the canton of Graubünden and the canton of Glarus
- Internal and external communication appropriate to requirements
- Exercise of the function of cantonal veterinarian for the canton of Graubünden and the canton of Glarus
- Specialist responsibility for the implementation of legislation on epizootics and animal protection, as well as legislation on therapeutic agents and foodstuffs in the context of primary animal production and slaughter in the canton of Graubünden and the canton of Glarus
- Participation in various national and cantonal bodies
- Strong leadership skills and several years of professional experience in a similar position
- Federal diploma as an official veterinarian
- Familiarity with the economic, agricultural and political conditions of Graubünden
- Innovative, entrepreneurial, service- and solution-oriented way of thinking and acting
- Ability to make decisions and assert oneself
- High social skills as well as flexibility, ability to cope with stressful situations and discretion
- Strong communication skills and excellent command of German
- Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
