The Inter-Community School Zurich is the oldest international school in the Greater Zurich Area. We are seeking qualified Secondary Substitute Teachers to join our community on an on-call basis for 2025-26. This role provides a valuable opportunity to contribute to student learning, collaborate with colleagues, and experience the ICS culture of excellence and care.
Specific Responsibilities
The Work of the Role: Substitute Teachers play a key role in ensuring a smooth and high-quality learning experience for our students. This position offers an excellent opportunity to join our community and begin engaging with our school and its vibrant educational environment.
Teaching & Learning
- Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of Secondary School teams.
- Support the academic and emotional well-being of students.
- Liaise with Subject Teachers, Grade Level Teams, and Coordinators to ensure programme requirements are met.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management that addresses academic, social, and emotional learning.
- Use technology effectively to enhance learning.
- Ensure continuity of teaching and learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and organization of the classroom environment.
Education, Experience & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Current teaching qualification for Secondary level preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of recent and relevant Secondary School classroom experience.
- International school experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or Diploma Programme (DP) preferable.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Experience teaching learners with diverse needs.
- Strong classroom management skills, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Swiss work and residence permit required.
