About the job
The Kantonsschule Zimmerberg in Au ZH was newly opened in August 2020. In its upcoming seventh year of operation, it is expected to have 25 classes with a total of around 600 pupils. It offers a long and a short gymnasium with five Matura profiles (classical languages, modern languages, mathematical-scientific, economic-legal, as well as philosophical-pedagogical-psychological). In the young, manageable cantonal school, personal contact and the individual are central.
From 1 September 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking to complement the team with a laboratory technician for physics.
Your tasks
Your duties include preparing and setting up physical experiments for lessons on behalf of the teachers. You document the experiments, manage the required materials, and contribute your expertise to the further development of the experiments. You maintain the subject-specific collection and the specialist library. You service the equipment as independently as possible, for example by carrying out minor repairs yourself and assisting in the development of new experiments. Completing general administrative tasks for the subject group rounds off your area of responsibility. Close cooperation between the physics, biology and chemistry subject groups is central at our school. The scientific laboratory staff regularly exchange ideas and thus ensure mutual representation.
Your profile
You have training as a physics laboratory technician with a Federal VET Diploma (or an equivalent qualification). As a contact person for our science teachers, you have a competent, motivated demeanour as well as good written and oral communication skills. The broad range of tasks and the lively environment require a high degree of flexibility and personal responsibility. We are looking for an independent-thinking and working individual who contributes themselves and their ideas.
Our offer
We offer you an interesting working day in an extraordinary school environment with modern infrastructure, a large scope for creativity in your work, as well as contemporary employment conditions according to cantonal guidelines. In agreement with the heads of departments and the Head of Central Services, your working hours during the school term may correspond to a higher workload, while you compensate for the hours worked during the school holidays.
Your application
Have we aroused your interest? We look forward to receiving your application. Please submit your documents exclusively via the application tool by 25 June 2026. For enquiries, our Head of Central Services, Doris Stoller, Tel. 043 783 11 03, E-mail doris.stoller@kszi.ch, will be happy to assist you.
