Research collaborator for the Leenaards Memory Center
The Leenaards Memory Center is looking for a research collaborator to join the Predem-MENS project, at a 40% activity rate.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences brings together the neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation services, the Leenaards Memory Center, the Neuroscience Research Center, and the Spinal Surgery Service. It offers integrated and personalized care to patients suffering from diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, from the brain to the muscle.
Inaugurated in 2013 and directed by Professor Gilles Allali, the Leenaards Memory Center is a center of excellence dedicated to the care and research of Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders related to aging. Combining multidisciplinary clinical expertise and cutting-edge translational research, the CLM’s mission is to improve understanding, early diagnosis, and management of neurodegenerative diseases.
Its research mainly focuses on identifying new cognitive and neuro-functional markers of pathological brain aging, through the use of various imaging modalities such as MRI, PET, and EEG, as well as in various experimental contexts to explore the underlying mechanisms of cognitive decline.
Mission
You will participate in an innovative project, planned for a duration of 3 years, aimed at identifying people at risk of cognitive decline and preventing the impact of this decline on their autonomy.
Neurocognitive diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, are no longer considered fatal: pharmacological and non-pharmacological prevention and treatment strategies now allow effective action from the early stages.
In this context, the project develops a digital tool accessible in the community setting to improve early detection of neurocognitive disorders and prediction of their evolution through artificial intelligence.
You will be expected to:
- Develop and implement a digital tool for detecting cognitive disorders (such as an application) in collaboration with a team of IT specialists and the Leenaards Memory Center team
- Conduct a review of the international literature on existing tools
- Collaborate with the relevant research teams and adapt the tool to the Swiss population
- Work at the interface between clinicians, researchers, and a start-up active in the field.
This project aligns with international, national, and regional recommendations aimed at promoting early diagnosis of neurocognitive disorders and involving patients as actors in their health.
Profile
- You hold a bachelor’s degree (required) and ideally a master’s degree in psychology
- You have knowledge in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, as well as theoretical knowledge in neuropsychology
- You possess good knowledge of English and basic computer skills
- You have an analytical mind and great scientific rigor, appreciate working in a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating autonomy in managing your tasks
- You have good written and oral communication skills, a strong interest in clinical research, and sensitivity to issues of aging and cognitive health.
