Gas
Natural gas is the most environmentally friendly fossil energy source. It emits around 25 percent less CO2 when heating or driving than fuels derived from crude oil.
We supply Zofingen and nine other municipalities in the region with natural gas and biogas. In Switzerland, it covers around 12 percent of the total energy demand and can be used for the following purposes:
- Heating, cooling, cooking, baking
- Hot water
- Generation of heat and combined heat and power (e.g. cogeneration plants)
- Heat and drying processes as well as steam in industry
- Fuel for cars, buses and commercial vehicles
Net zero can be achieved through various means
To reach the net zero target by 2050, gas can make a significant contribution to the solution. The explanatory video shows what this solution could look like.
