About us
For over 125 years, we have been committed to more humanity in the Canton of Zurich. With our employees and over 2,400 volunteers, we support people in everyday life, promote social integration and strengthen health, self-determination and education. Our work is guided by the Red Cross principles, the needs of the population and social developments throughout the Canton of Zurich. Together with the public sector and partner organisations, we create reliable and impact-oriented services that help where relief, orientation or social participation are lacking.
The digital transformation is fundamentally changing the non-profit sector as well. New technologies, artificial intelligence, increasing requirements for data protection and cybersecurity, as well as changed expectations of donors, volunteers and stakeholders, present organisations with strategic decisions with long-term impact. To shape these developments proactively, responsibly and in line with our humanitarian mission, we are looking for a personality who can assess digital opportunities and risks and accompany the board and management with their expertise on forward-looking issues.
Your impact on the board
As a voluntary board member "Digital Transformation" you bring your perspective where decisions are made. Your impact is particularly evident in the following contributions:
- Strategic classification of technological developments with regard to opportunities, risks and long-term relevance
- Bringing digital perspectives into key board decisions
- Peer sparring for the management on questions around digitalisation, AI and responsible innovation
- Critical accompaniment of digital investments focusing on impact, security and sustainability
- Connecting technological feasibility, ethical responsibility and humanitarian mission
- Setting impulses and co-shaping the course for a future-oriented organisation
- Targeted participation in working groups and projects where your digital expertise creates concrete added value for the board, management and organisation
What you bring
- Experience in accompanying or leading digital transformation processes forms the basis for this role. Added to this are strategic judgement and the ability to classify complex technological topics so that a mixed committee can make informed decisions.
- You understand why IT security, reputation protection and the trust of donors in a non-profit organisation are inseparably linked and what this means for dealing with new technologies such as AI.
- Ethical questions are not an add-on for you, but part of the strategic assessment.
- You have a relevant network in the technology and digital environment, which you actively contribute.
- Experience in strategic committees or comparable leadership responsibility is an advantage.
- Equally important is identification with the Red Cross principles and the willingness to immerse yourself in the context of a humanitarian, donation-funded organisation.
- Experience in the NPO environment is welcome. However, attitude, judgement and genuine interest in our mission are decisive.
