About the job
You will work in a specialised teaching class for cycle 3, which is entrusted to you in accordance with the mission of Alter École. This class is located in the premises of Alter École in Tavannes and accommodates between 6 and 8 pupils.
The class is managed by a duo of teachers (each with half class responsibility), supported by a teaching assistant.
You will work on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as Friday mornings.
In collaboration with the teaching team, you plan and prepare your lessons referring to the PER and the individualised project of each pupil. You create favourable learning conditions adapted to our pupils. You encourage and supervise interactions between pupils and promote their autonomy.
The position is limited until 30 November 2026, the end date of the maternity leave of the incumbent. However, it could be combined with the replacement of the other class teacher, who will benefit from the second semester 2026-2027 for training.
Profile sought
- Master’s degree in specialised teaching or remedial pedagogy
- or
- Teaching diploma with experience in the specialised field
- or
- Bachelor of Science in Social Education with experience in specialised teaching
- Experience in supporting pupils with special needs
- Flexibility regarding the pupils taken care of
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary and institutional teams
Start date: 1 August 2026
Duration of mandate: fixed-term, until 30 November 2026

The employment conditions correspond to those of the Bernese cantonal teaching staff. The possibility to combine this fixed-term contract with the replacement of the other class teacher, who will benefit from a training leave during the second school semester 2026-2027.
