Good for life – that is our motto. The Office for Youth and Career Counseling of the Education Directorate provides, manages, and coordinates services for child and youth welfare and career counseling.
The Foster Families Department in the Central Area of Complementary Support for Education offers a practical training position for students as part of their Bachelor's degree in Social Work starting January 2026 for ten to twelve months.
As an intern, you will support the authority team in their work and be jointly responsible for the acquisition of new foster families for the AJB's foster family pool, the placement of foster children (including in the context of crisis interventions) in foster families, as well as the counseling of foster parents, foster children, and professionals during the getting-to-know process. Additionally, you will help to further develop the foster care system in the Canton of Zurich. You will also have the opportunity to develop conceptual foundations for the foster family pool and thereby actively contribute to the development of services and quality in the area of family care in the Canton of Zurich.

Your Profile
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Social Work at a university of applied sciences and wish to complete the second practical training as part of your studies
- Ideally, first professional experiences in child and youth welfare and a high social commitment to the concerns of children, especially foster children and their families
- Independent and committed working style
- Open way of communicating and approaching people
- Experience in conducting conversations
- Quick comprehension, independent working style
- Enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration and contact with different stakeholders
- Good German language skills in spoken and written form
- High level of self-motivation and the will to shape the internship
