By-election of a Member of the Finance Commission for the Remainder of the Term 2026/2029; 1st Ballot
On Sunday, 27 September 2026, a by-election will be held for the remainder of the term 2026/2029 for a member of the Finance Commission.
Registration Procedure
Election proposals must be signed by 10 eligible voters of the electoral district in accordance with § 29a of the Law on Political Rights (GPR) and § 21b of the Ordinance on Political Rights (VGPR) and submitted to the municipal office no later than the 44th day before the election day, i.e. by Friday, 14 August 2026, 12:00 noon. The required form can be obtained from the municipal office or downloaded from the Gränichen municipality website under Politics & Administration / Votes and Elections / Forms.
Reference is made to the principle that in the first ballot every person eligible to vote in the municipality can receive valid votes as a candidate (§ 30 para. 1 GPR).
If fewer or the same number of eligible candidates are proposed as are to be elected, a 5-day late registration period will be set with the publication of the name, during which new proposals can be submitted. If no new registrations are received within this period, the proposed person will be declared elected by the election office by acclamation (§ 30a GPR).
