Nurses in neonatology intensive and intermediate care
To complete its team, the woman-mother-child department is looking for qualified nurses with an activity rate between 80% and 100% for the neonatology intensive and intermediate care unit.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Woman-Mother-Child Department (DFME) brings together the Gynecology, Obstetrics, Neonatology, Pediatrics, and Child and Adolescent Surgery Services. More than 1,500 professionals work within this department. We care for women throughout their lives on gynecological, obstetrical, and psychosocial levels, as well as children from birth to adolescence.
The Neonatology Service's mission is to provide specialized care to all high-risk newborns, whether full-term or premature. Focused on the personalization and development of the child and the involvement of parents, care is integrated into a multidisciplinary team operation that ensures continuity of care from the delivery room to the child's return home or to a pediatric service near the home.
The neonatology service in numbers includes:
- A level III reference center for intensive and specialized care for premature newborns or those with complex pathologies
- Three units (intensive care, intermediate care, specialized care including a skin-to-skin unit) that welcome more than 800 newborns each year
- More than 160 caregivers who play a key role in the overall care of the child and their family.

- You support families by creating a bond of trust from the first hours of life
- You actively participate in the care partnership with families, fully integrating them into the care and decision-making process
- You work closely with a dynamic multidisciplinary team
- You contribute to innovation by participating in research projects, teaching, and continuous quality improvement of care.
Profile
- You hold a nursing bachelor’s degree (for foreign bachelors, proof of recognition by the Swiss Red Cross is required)
- You have at least 3 years of confirmed experience in neonatology. Specialization in pediatric and neonatal intensive care is an asset
- You are rigorous, have keen observation skills, and good stress resistance
- You possess excellent communication and listening skills, both with patients and their parents and with the interprofessional team
- You are eager to learn and develop your knowledge and skills in neonatology
- You master the usual computer environment (MS Office) and knowledge of institutional IT applications is an asset.
