The Aigle legislature invited to lift objections to the Glariers zoning plan and site development
With a view to the redevelopment of the Glariers to accommodate the future 900-seat multipurpose hall, the Municipality of Aigle is submitting two proposals to the communal council. It is invited to lift the objections of three residents and to adopt a zoning plan for the site as well as the development of the avenue des Glariers for an amount of 3.1 million.
The "Les Glariers" zoning plan, put on public inquiry from 22 April to 21 May 2023, aims to designate the site planned to host the multipurpose hall of the Espace Evénements des Glariers (EEG) as a public utility zone, thus allowing the realisation of this project, endorsed by the Aigle population at 58.7% during a spontaneous referendum in February 2020. This zoning plan (PA) serves to define the rules that will apply to the site, in connection with environmental requirements, soft mobility, secure public access, parking and green spaces. It thus concretises the qualitative and normative requirements of the sector planned for the installation of the EEG.
Alongside the development of the PA, the Municipality commissioned a Vevey-based office to redesign the avenue des Glariers, an important axis leading to the main leisure area of the town, whose usage will increase with the creation of the EEG. The current state of this road section is not adapted to these future developments, which is why a development project for the avenue des Glariers was put on public inquiry from 23 April to 21 May 2023. It includes:
Three objections to be lifted
During the public inquiry conducted in 2023, three objections were filed against the "Les Glariers" zoning plan project and against the avenue des Glariers development project. In accordance with legal provisions, the Aigle communal council must decide on the proposed responses to the objections, which will then be forwarded to the Canton, competent to pronounce their lifting. The communal council will also have to decide on the adoption of the "Les Glariers" zoning plan (municipal proposal 2024-03) and on the avenue des Glariers development project (municipal proposal 2024-02).
