About the job
Your new role
Your main tasks include supporting the Chief of Staff by independently preparing decision-making bases for the Directorate and the political committees, accompanying factual matters, and participating in areas and matters of the Chief of Staff as well as the offices of the Directorate. Leading projects and working groups or participating in them complete this demanding and versatile activity.
This position is for you if
- you have a completed university degree (Master's or higher) and ideally already professional experience in public administration (construction, urban planning/development, architecture, etc.);
- you possess very high analytical and conceptual skills and a quick grasp;
- you are accustomed to presenting complex matters clearly and understandably on paper or orally with very good written and spoken expression tailored to the audience;
- you work independently, service- and solution-oriented;
- you are interested in planning and construction topics of a larger Swiss city;
- you enjoy an advisory and support function within a staff between administration and politics;
- you enjoy and find it easy to interact with people regardless of task, function, and hierarchy.

Your office
The staff is the hub for the political affairs of the Directorate of Planning and Construction. The interdisciplinary team ensures the entire coordination of urban settlement, landscape, and traffic planning, is responsible for political and financial aspects, and manages the central legal service for the specialist departments of the Directorate. The Directorate Secretariat integrates construction documentation, construction accounting, and the telephone switchboard. The staff supports and advises the Director and the offices of the Directorate of Planning and Construction on legal and procedural matters, prepares submissions to the City Council and the City Parliament. Finally, the staff runs the secretariat for the parliamentary Property and Construction Commission (LBK).
