The position is attached to the Department of Women, Children and Adolescents . This department’s mission is to provide quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and to address the health issues faced by newborns, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 16. It works on developing cutting-edge services and centres of expertise in specialities.
The mission of the gynaecology service is to ensure the follow-up of women throughout their reproductive life and during menopause. It welcomes women and couples with maximum comfort and safety, respecting privacy and individual values.
The service consists of several specialised consultations. The medical oncogynaecology, surgical oncogynaecology, and surgical breast units jointly manage gynaecological cancers and breast cancers.
The unit of reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology organises the management of issues related to reproduction, infertility, and menopause.
The reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology unit at the HUG provides personalised and comprehensive care to couples around the desire for pregnancy.
In addition to medically assisted procreation techniques performed within the unit itself, an infertility assessment in a half-day called Fertiday, psychological support, and, if necessary, sexological care are also offered.
The gynaecology service also provides teaching for specialist gynaecologist-obstetricians, contributes to the training of medical students, and participates in the continuing medical education of practising doctors.
Thanks to the emphasis on research, the service offers women the best possible quality of care, respecting procedures established at both federal and international levels.
Job Description
As an Assistant Physician at the unit of reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology, you will work in an outpatient consultation activity in the following areas:
Reproductive medicine and fertility preservation,
Gynaecological endocrinology and menopause,
Gynaecological imaging (infertility assessments, specialised ultrasounds, diagnostic hysteroscopies).
Your mission is to organise, supervise and develop the diagnostic activity (ultrasound and hysteroscopy) of the unit, as well as to develop multidisciplinary collaborations (endometriosis centre, collaboration with radiologists), teaching, and research in the field.
You participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as in the unit’s research projects.
You take part in on-call duties for the department of gynaecology and obstetrics and in reproductive medicine on-call shifts.
Qualifications
You hold the federal medical diploma or an equivalent title recognised by MEBEKO. You have an FMH title of advanced training in reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology or an equivalent title recognised by MEBEKO, as well as a medical thesis or are in the process of obtaining the title shortly.
You possess the right to practise allowing you to work in the canton of Geneva and have a minimum French level of C1.
You are autonomous in managing complex cases in reproductive medicine.
You have at least 3 years’ experience as a chief or senior registrar in a reproductive medicine unit, as well as experience in team management and leadership.
You have experience in undergraduate teaching and clinical research.
You have solid expertise in gynaecological imaging (specialised gynaecological ultrasound, 3D/4D, hysterosonographies, hysterosalpingocontrast sonographies, diagnostic hysteroscopy).
Your knowledge and solid experience allow you to independently perform the following surgical interventions: operative hysteroscopies (polypectomy, myomectomy, treatment of synechiae and uterine septum), diagnostic laparoscopies with chromoperturbation, simple cystectomies, salpingectomies, caesarean sections and instrumental extractions.
