Regional Forest Engineer and Protection Works Specialist

The Forests and Natural Hazards Office (UFP) is the cantonal specialised service for the forest and protection against natural hazards. The employees of the UFP are committed to meeting society's demands on the forest and ensuring sustainable forest management.
You ensure that the Graubünden forest
- is able to protect people, animals and infrastructure,
- is a habitat for various animal and plant species,
- is a supplier of raw materials such as wood, water and energy,
- can also serve as a place of rest and recreation for people in the future.
For 1 November 2026 or by agreement, we are looking for a regional forest engineer and protection works specialist (80-100 %).
Tasks
- As a regional forest engineer, you will be responsible for the assigned municipality of Bregaglia: implementation of federal and cantonal forest legislation; ensuring the best possible fulfilment of forest functions
- As a protection works specialist, you will manage the related projects in the southern Graubünden region: design of protection works based on up-to-date documentation on natural hazards; independent planning and supervision of external design work up to the realisation of protection works projects; coordination of inspections and maintenance as well as the arrangement of protection works in the region
What we expect from you
- Degree as a PF or SUP forest engineer or master’s in environmental sciences PF with specialisation in forest and landscape management
- Solid silvicultural knowledge
- Experience and solid knowledge in the design and implementation of protection works against gravitational natural hazards; familiarity with tender procedures and comprehensive risk management related to natural hazards in the Swiss context.
- The working languages are generally German and Italian; good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
