Registered Nurse in Continuous Care for the Internal Medicine Department
To complete our team, we are looking for a registered nurse at a workload of 80% to 100% for the Continuous Care Service in Medicine. Start date from 1st November 2026 or to be agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital Centre (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Internal Medicine Department admits patients suffering from conditions requiring complex management. Its intermediate care unit aims to provide highly specialised care and close monitoring to ensure the safety of patients who do not have vital failure.
A nurse in continuous medical care manages unstable patients requiring close monitoring, frequent technical interventions, sustained interdisciplinary coordination and a high level of decision-making. It is a pivotal role between acute care and intensive care.
Mission
- You are responsible, within your own role, for identifying, planning, executing and evaluating nursing care in the preventive, curative, palliative and educational fields for the patients under your care, respecting professional standards and institutional rules
- You are responsible for performing delegated medical acts and, in this context, you may delegate acts dependent on your own role and assume responsibility for them
- You actively participate in welcoming patients and their relatives, as well as in organising work and ensuring the smooth running and continuity of the Unit's activities (for example during evening or night shifts)
- You participate in supervising and evaluating students and trainees and in integrating new collaborators
- You contribute to an interdisciplinary approach to care and teamwork.
Profile
- Holder of a HES nursing diploma (or equivalent qualification, as well as Red Cross recognition, mandatory)
- Experience in an acute care service (minimum 5 years)
- You must complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Intermediate and Continuous Care (mandatory)
- You have excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of contact and team spirit
- You collaborate easily within a multidisciplinary team
- You have analytical and synthesis skills, a sense of responsibility, good adaptability and good organisational skills.
- You manage stress well
- Proficient in common IT tools
- Fluency in spoken/written French (level C1).
Depending on profile, the salary scale will be between levels 8 and 9.
