About the job
Duration of Training
2 yearsJob Description
Tyre technicians assess the condition of tyres. If a tyre is worn out or damaged, they repair or replace it. They dismantle the old tyres and wheels and fit new ones using a pneumatic tyre fitting machine. After fitting new tyres, they inflate them and clean rims, tyres, and, if desired, the entire vehicle. Their duties also include balancing the wheels, which compensates for imbalance – an uneven distribution of mass on the rotating wheel.Tyre technicians are also responsible for the proper storage of summer and winter tyres. Additionally, they carry out simple inspection and service tasks on the vehicle. For example, they check the steering, brakes, exhaust, and exterior lighting for visible damage and measure the levels of oil, brake fluid, battery fluid, and other liquids. They work precisely and attentively, as fitting errors can have serious consequences.
