The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. Your mission
The Information Technology department at PSI, abbreviated AIT, supports research and administration by providing reliable and future-oriented services in the field of information and communication technologies. It operates the central infrastructures, information systems, and applications as well as the workplace infrastructure at PSI. In the role of IT Manager, you take overall responsibility for AIT, both strategically and operationally. You lead an organisation of around 65 employees and ensure a high-performance, stable, and future-oriented IT. In doing so, you not only shape the further development of infrastructure, system landscape, and organisation but especially influence the positioning of IT as a reliable and modern partner for research, administration, and external collaborations. As an experienced Transformation Lead, you actively participate in the strategic transformation of the IT organisation within PSI and the ETH domain and drive this transformation forward with foresight and creative power.

Your areas of responsibility
Strategy & Transformation
- Development and consistent implementation of the IT strategy
- Further development of IT governance and control models
- Active participation in the IT transformation in the context of a possible harmonisation within the ETH domain
Operations & Services
- Ensuring stable, secure, and efficient IT operations (infrastructure, applications, networks, data centres)
- Definition and further development of the technological target architecture
- Continuous optimisation of processes, services, and service quality
Leadership & Organisation
- Leadership, development, and empowerment of a team of around 65 employees
- Coaching of managers and promotion of a performance-oriented, collaborative culture
- Overall responsibility for budget, resources, and organisational structures
Your profile
- University degree in computer science, business informatics, or comparable, complemented by business management training
- Several years of leadership experience in demanding, complex IT organisations with responsibility for strategy, operations, and transformation
- Solid expertise in IT governance, IT service management, as well as modern organisational and operational models
- Proven success in transforming IT organisations as well as in change management and process optimisation
- Experience with shared services, IT harmonisation, and integrative organisational models
- Knowledge of public procurement is an advantage
- Fluent German and English skills
- Convincing personality with strong communication skills, strategic thinking ability, and high social competence
- Entrepreneurial, structured, and innovation-driven, with an affinity for science and research
