In recent years, the Museum of Art of Graubünden has gained a model character in the cultural world of Graubünden and Switzerland. Thanks to its great international appeal, the museum welcomes more and more visitors every year. In 2025, a new record of admissions was reached. The museum consists of Villa Planta and a modern new wing inaugurated in 2016. The impressive collection with over 8000 works includes pieces from the 18th century to the present day. Every year, various exhibitions, events, and educational programs take place to promote a comprehensive and detailed engagement with art. The Museum of Art of Graubünden is the workplace of about 40 employees. The museum's sponsors are the canton of Graubünden (staff and infrastructure), the Graubünden Art Association (exhibitions and events), and the Graubünden Art Collection Foundation (collection).
Since the current artistic director is retiring, we are looking for a convincing personality to lead the Museum of Art of Graubünden, as an important cultural institution, into the future starting August 1, 2027, or by agreement.
- You take over the operational management of the museum and ensure organization, manage finances, and lead the staff
- You are responsible for the annual program, realize exhibitions and events, and oversee communication, mediation, and respective publicity work
- You are responsible for developing, curating, and presenting the collection
- You develop strategies for acquisition, inclusion, and public participation
- You promote ongoing collaboration with universities of applied sciences and universities
- You participate with a consultative voice in the board of the Graubünden Art Association
- You manage the affairs of the Graubünden Art Collection Foundation
- You maintain and strengthen a wide national and international network with artists, collectors, patrons, lenders, foundations, politics, and authorities
- You influence public perception and represent the museum externally
- You have completed university studies in art sciences or equivalent training
- You have extensive experience working in a museum as well as professional and leadership experience of several years
- You have several years of experience as a curator of exhibitions and as an organizer of projects and enterprises
- You have proven professional skills in modern, contemporary, and new art
- You qualify through your expressed personal skills, your excellent ability to communicate and work in a team, as well as your confident demeanor
- You promote a good climate in the management
- Good knowledge of several cantonal languages as well as English is an advantage
