Offices in France – Paris, Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, (with option for remote/flexible work)
We invite you to leverage your skills in consulting, business development and project management by contributing to innovative and high-quality environmental, social and sustainable solutions through a range of international development projects, notably in the infrastructure, energy and renewable energy sectors. To succeed in this role, you must have tangible experience in Environmental and Social (E&S) consulting for complex international development projects, as well as a good knowledge of international financiers’ E&S standards, including IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles and the OECD Common Approaches.
More specific expertise, particularly in the social or biodiversity fields, is highly desirable.

Your new role
As our new Environmental & Social Consultant or Senior Consultant, you will be part of our world-renowned Sustainable Finance team, which is integrated into our "Global Impact Assessment and Biodiversity & Ecosystems Global Service Line". Based in France, you would work closely with around 100 colleagues in our global office network across Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. Working for both borrowers/developers and lenders, the team’s core services are to support the financing potential of multiple international development projects. We offer the opportunity to work on significant and prestigious projects across a variety of geographies and sectors.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Technical contribution and drafting of deliverables, including report writing and internal reviews, across a range of services as an Independent Environmental & Social Consultant (IESC) for E&S due diligence (ESDD) and Environmental & Social Impact Assessments (EIES/ESIA).
- Management of projects of various sizes and scales, for IESC ESDD or ESIA services.
- Organisation and participation in site visits as part of E&S audits or E&S monitoring worldwide.
- Management and drafting of technical and commercial proposals.
- Support/management of the implementation of the Sustainable Finance team’s business development plan.
Your key objectives during the first 12 months will be:
- Successfully support one or more ESDDs on behalf of financiers.
- Successfully support one or more ESIAs on behalf of borrowers/developers, compliant with international standards.
- Contribute to the development of several proposals.
- Actively support the business development plan and the development of relationships with existing and new clients.

For this role, we believe your starting point is to possess the following skills:
- Strong project management capabilities, including financial management of projects.
- Technical expertise on environmental, biodiversity and social aspects of international standards.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant environmental, ecological and/or social discipline.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Good presentation and technical report writing skills in French and English.
- Ability to work independently when necessary, and also closely with a multidisciplinary team of technical, environmental and social specialists.
- Tangible experience implementing international financiers’ E&S standards, including IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches (between 2 and 15 years of experience in this field).
- Experience as a consultant.
- Fluency in English and French, other languages would be an advantage.
- Flexibility to undertake short international field visits (essential).
- Driving licence desirable.
- Residence and eligibility to work in France (i.e. existing work visa if you are not an EU citizen).
