Job Description
At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture, providing high-quality seed and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta's hiring team is looking for a Gardener Plant Production Researcher (m/f/d) in Stein, Switzerland.
As a gardener in research biology, you will cultivate plants from seed to delivery size for our research teams, directly contributing to the research activities at the Stein site.
YOUR TASKS
- Cultivation of high-quality plant material as a basis for reproducible biological experiments
- Performing all horticultural tasks: sowing, pricking out, repotting, watering, and related ancillary work
- Independently monitoring and controlling plant cultivation for disease and pest infestation
- Optimising existing cultivation methods for crops in close coordination with the team leader
- Using digital tools to document and support cultivation processes
- Participating in minor technical projects and process improvements
- Complying with all safety-related work regulations
- Active participation in a small, high-performing team
- Periodic Sunday and public holiday duties
Qualifications
- Completed training as a gardener EFZ, florist, biological laboratory technician, or equivalent qualification
- Interest in digitalisation, new technologies, and automation in the greenhouse
- Ideally experience in cultivating various crops under greenhouse conditions with high-quality requirements
- Good observation skills and careful working methods
- Openness to new things and enjoyment of continuous improvement
- Good German skills as well as basic knowledge of English (spoken and written)
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- Team spirit and a high sense of responsibility
