In the Component Safety group of the Laboratory for Nuclear Materials, we deal with the ageing and damage of materials in nuclear power plants and their possible effects on the integrity and lifespan of safety-relevant components. For our materials testing laboratory, we are looking for
Your tasks
- Responsibility for the smooth and safe operation of tests in inactive and active (hot laboratory) materials testing (maintenance, calibrations)
- Development, design, construction, assembly, and adaptation of materials testing apparatus in collaboration with scientists as well as internal technical departments and external companies
- Creation and updating of quality assurance documentation, technical specifications, and work instructions for test execution
- Guidance and support of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in materials testing and in setting up test facilities
- Coordination of sample preparation including cutting plans
Your profile
- Technical vocational training with further education as a technician TS or comparable several years of professional experience
- Basic knowledge in measurement, control, and electrical engineering as well as in data acquisition and CAD/design
- Knowledge in mechanical manufacturing and handling of electromechanical and servo-hydraulic testing equipment and pumps
- Manual dexterity, broad technical understanding, and a pronounced quality and safety awareness
- Good English skills for collaboration in an international environment
- Willingness to work with radioactive materials in the hot laboratory
