The University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy offers you an exciting opportunity: At the NEPTUN ward of the new Bern Parent-Child Centre (BEK), you can help shape the day care provision for toddlers with autism spectrum disorder and their families as a specialist with a pedagogical or therapeutic qualification. In a young, dynamic team, you will work on the further development of this innovative treatment concept. Your activities will primarily focus on the implementation of early intervention for ASD and to a small extent on outreach work to support the child in their family and school environment. You have the chance to learn our therapy method ESDM (Early Start Denver Model ®) and to be trained in its implementation. If you enjoy creative work with young children and value close collaboration with parents and professionals, you are exactly right with us.

Your tasks

• You plan and conduct ESDM support sequences with children with ASD
• You accompany children with ASD in daily routines such as eating and personal care
• You actively participate in team meetings, ward rounds, case discussions and supervisions
• You create objective and complete documentation and ensure efficient communication within the team
• You guide parents in the implementation of support techniques and assist them in everyday life
• You perform household tasks as well as other internal ward duties

Your profile

• You have a pedagogical or therapeutic qualification, such as a Master’s degree in Psychology or a diploma in Nursing, Special Education, Social Pedagogy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Psychomotricity
• You enjoy independent, responsible work with children aged between 2 and 5 years
• You bring experience in working with toddlers
• Experience with people on the autism spectrum is an advantage
• You can provide a clean criminal record (private and special private extract)
• You understand Swiss German, speak German at level C1 and can follow further training in English
• You enjoy playing and approach interaction with children with great creativity and enthusiasm
• You bring physical fitness, resilience and a good sense of humour
• You maintain a respectful approach to patients, parents, colleagues and supervisors
• You appreciate a dynamic and constantly evolving work environment and are interested in actively shaping it
