The External Relations division of the State Chancellery is the link between the Canton of Fribourg and the Federal Palace in Bern, the cantonal conferences and other partners in Switzerland and abroad. We represent the interests of the Canton of Fribourg beyond cantonal borders and work cross-directorate with the federal administration and the Swiss parliamentarians. Our main task is to represent Fribourg’s interests beyond the cantonal borders.

Your tasks
- You monitor and supervise the key dossiers during the legislative process in Federal Bern
- You draft documents for the State Council
- You coordinate responses to federal consultations
- You support the State Council in preparing for inter-cantonal conferences (Conference of Cantonal Governments KdK, Western Swiss Government Conference WRK and the Swiss Capital Region HSR)
- You also assist in organising events and conferences
- You help with the preparation of the annual report of the External Relations sector
Desired profile
- You have a Master’s degree from a university, preferably in political science, or have similar experience
- You have good knowledge of the political and federal system of Switzerland and are generally interested in politics
- You know the Canton of Fribourg and its main challenges or have a strong interest in this region
- You are able to quickly understand, summarise complex issues, take initiative and easily integrate into a small team
- You are proficient in German or French, each with very good knowledge of the partner language. English skills are an advantage
