The British School of Geneva is seeking to recruit a qualified, outstanding, experienced teacher of English on a Part-Time Contract Basis for the Academic year 2024-2025 commencing on the 24th August 2024 and will suit someone looking to have a level of flexibility within their working week.

Founded in 2005, The British School of Geneva offers the full English National Curriculum from EYFS through to A Levels to students of all nationalities and educational backgrounds.

Today, the school welcomes around 301 students from over 70 nationalities in its bright, spacious, built-for-purpose premises. The British School of Geneva is a day school only and employs approximately 50 teachers and administrators. Teacher of English : Provision of scheduled Staff Duties, Form Tutor and possibly After School Activities

The English department comprises a team of 4 teachers working collaboratively teaching English Language and Literature through Secondary and 6th Form.

The department offers students the opportunity to study English langauge and literature in an in-depth manner within the English curriculum. Students in KS 4 and 5 (Year 11 and 13) sit examinations external Examinations through Pearson EDEXCEL. The successful candidate will be expected to prepare students fully for all external examinations.

The key professional and personal qualities required for this position are :

Essential:

  • BA in English Including Language, Literature and Culture or internationally recognised equivalent as basis for teaching French.
  • PGCE teaching qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • Ability to teach English at Key Stage 3 - 5 with Pearson EDEXCEL OR equivalent.
  • Ability to teach students with a variety of prior experience and ability levels in English (varying from native / Mother Tongue to 2nd language).
  • Other relevant Subject areas may be considered depending on qualifcition and experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • The proven ability to contribute to and work effectively within a Subject department and broader staff community.
  • The proven ability to maintain accurate data, records and Curricular Schemes of Learning.
  • The proven ability to energise student learning and experience ensuring high level of student development and improvement.
  • A proven facility with using relevant Information technology and complying with in-house systems of recordkeeping.
  • A proven ability to provide additional contribution to student experience beyond the mainstream curriculum.
  • A 10 Year Personal Background Police Clearance record (to include International child protection certificate or equivalent).
  • 2 written references from Referees.
  • A current Work Permit to work in Switzerland or residency in Switzerland or as a Frontailer.

  • Ability to teach a 2nd Subject
