Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing innovative engineering solutions for Gas Turbine accessory systems or Balance of Plant Mechanical systems, meeting all customer CTQs (Critical-To-Quality) and GE’s design guidelines
  • Develop detailed system & hardware design with schematics, P&IDs, (Pipping and Instrumentation Diagram) Component specifications & detailed drawings
  • Perform engineering calculations & analyses (compressible and incompressible fluid systems for sizing and selection of system components), to validate integrity of hardware and software designs
  • Develop or strongly support standardization and/or cost out efforts to improve the competitiveness of GE’s product/services offerings
  • Review, evaluate, and approve Supplier analyses & designs working with Sourcing to ensure cost effective design solutions
  • Create effective connect with key stakeholders such as technical experts, Applications, and Requisition, PMO (Project Management Office), Sourcing & PEM (Project Engineering Manager) teams
  • Take a key role in the continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and deliverable
  • Able to deploy successfully engineering tools such as AUTOPIPE, PIPESTRESS, Caesar, FLOINHANCE, STAAD, HYSYS, others
  • Responsible to know and apply local & international codes and standards (such as ASME, API, ATEX, NEC, EU Norms etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering/process engineering or equivalent with specialization in process automation, energy technology, thermodynamics, or system engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong in engineering simulation software
  • Strong Interest in process/system engineering of Gas Turbines and Balance of Plant systems
  • Good knowledge process technology
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to assess situations make judgments based on practice or previous experience
