Working as a Senior Project Manager, you will be reporting to the Project Management Office Group. A crucial part of your role is to oversee the execution of medium-size and/or complex to large system projects to our customers in Mining, Aluminum and Cement industries worldwide, leading the project team, establishing the approach and overseeing hand-over, planning, monitoring and control activities. In this role, you will maintain and enhance customer satisfaction by ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with contractual agreements and schedule commitments while also with ABB Policy and requirements. May support the local management in overseeing team development and process improvement to continually increase the effectiveness of project execution. May carry accountability for a portfolio of projects. Will ensure as well guiding, coaching, and developing the skills and knowledge of the project team.

Your responsibilities

• Overseeing project execution from contract award to the end of the warranty period, including site services.
• Ensuring achievement of project deliverables and compliance with contract requirements and cyber security regulations.
• Monitoring projects for adherence to best practices in planning, cost control, resource efficiency, quality, and HSE.
• Owning the oversight and improvement of guidelines, tools, and templates.
• Analyzing and addressing project risks and opportunities, sharing lessons learned regularly.
• Taking necessary actions for successful future project execution and driving recovery efforts for troubled projects.
• Collaborating across functions for effective contract management, including negotiations, changes, and claims. Additionally, assisting local Sales and Tendering in early tender involvement, and offering support to less experienced Project Managers in the recovery of troubled projects through assessment and recommendations.
• Leading project acceptance, contract closure, customer acknowledgment, and cultivating solid stakeholder relationships through effective communication, serving as the primary customer contact.

Your background

• More than 10 years of experience in the field of Project Management, ideally in mining, Oil & Gas or other heavy industries with global exposure.
• Demonstrated experience in management of project scope, cost, schedules and vendors/subcontractors as well as sound knowledge of common project management processes, tools and techniques.
• A collaborative, solution-focused approach, with Management experience in project execution, with strong, well-developed communication, influencing and coaching skills.
• A degree (FH, university), ideally in the areas of electrical or mechanical engineering, additional background in economic disciplines is an advantage.
• PMP® credential is an asset.
• Fluency in English is a must, fluency in German and/or Spanish is an asset. Other languages are of advantage.
• Willingness to travel around 10% of working time.
