The Position

Population Health Insights team is a group of epidemiologists working within Global Access to provide key population health and epidemiological insights to the Roche organization. The group is responsible for generating epidemiological patient forecasts and insights throughout all stages of product development to meet the needs across global, regional and affiliate teams. The team also develop data-driven and actionable insights into drivers of population health to enable effective interventions that meaningfully help patients access the best possible care.

As an intern, you will be responsible for:

  • The development of treatment impact models (TIM), a type of epidemiological model that looks at the impact of treatments on populations either from a treatment-class or product specific level

  • Analysis of different data sources such as Real-World Data (RWD), population health datasets, and literature to collect model inputs

  • Communication and engagement with key stakeholders across the organization on the use of treatment impact models in decision making

  • Supporting access excellence through the collection, analysis, storing, maintaining and sharing of access-related data, news and information to meet functional, team and individual needs across global, regional and affiliate Access.

  • Continuous evolution of Global Access into an outcome focused, agile organization by expertly identifying gaps, opportunities, and a clear line of sight to improve patient access and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of treatment impact models across a range of disease and product areas

  • Understand and analysis of different types of data and datasets available

  • Use and application of different software tools to help develop and execute epidemiological models

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of global, regional and affiliate access and epidemiology information understanding and needs

  • Predict and prioritize relevant population health insights (macroeconomic & other relevant health insights) to inform the optimal development of strategies and to address needs of our chapter members.

  • Measure & report key indicators for progress of Roche’s access strategies and Pharma Vision

Requirements:

  • Current graduate student (i.e. enrolled at an accredited university in a Masters of PhD) or post-graduate student (less than 12 months after graduation from a Masters or PhD) in epidemiology, quantitative methods, economics, or pharmacology

  • Has a relevant work permit (EU/EFTA) or must prove that the internship is a mandatory part of their curriculum work (Non EU/EFTA students)

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft excel and statistic programs such as R or SAS

  • Strong knowledge of epidemiological principles and methodologies

  • Strong knowledge of national and international health statistics, surveillance data and health surveys in defined disease areas, in particular their strengths and weaknesses

  • Familiarity with evidence synthesis methods such as meta-analyses

  • Epidemiology or health outcomes experience in either post-graduate academic work or the pharmaceutical industry or a service provider organization (e.g., contract research organization/CRO)

  • Experience designing, conducting, analyzing and interpreting epidemiological studies (includes healthcare/pharmaceutical HTA related experience) and/or Real World Data (RWD) studies

  • Knowledge or experience working within the pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred

Length of Term and Interview Process:

This job posting is for a 1-year contract for an internship within the Population Health Insights and Impact team with a possibility to extend the contract.
