To succeed the current director of the CPPS, who is retiring, the School of Engineering of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis is inviting applications for the following position within its Institute of Systems Engineering:

Professor UAS and director of the Earthquake Prevention Learning Centre (CPPS) (40-50 %)

Position description

• Scientific and operational management of the CPPS at the Energypolis campus.

• Development and implementation of the CPPS strategy in alignment with cantonal policy, the strategic priorities of relevant cantonal services and research institutes active in the field of natural hazards.

• Acquisition, management and implementation of relevant research and innovation projects within the Institute of Systems Engineering.

• Development and delivery of relevant continuing education programmes at CAS level.

• Expansion of partnerships at national and international level.

• Design and coordination of educational activities delivered within the CPPS.

• Promotion of the CPPS.

Selection criteria

• Tertiary qualification in natural hazards or seismology.

• Proven track record in the acquisition and management of projects.

• Demonstrated experience in education.

• Strong interest in natural hazard prevention.

• Ability to establish and develop institutional and academic partnerships.

• Active participation in the applied research ecosystem of the Energypolis campus.

• Excellent command of French and English; knowledge of German would be a strong asset.
