As a Operations Engineer specializing in SAP BW, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, automation, and performance of our SAP BW system. You will collaborate closely with development and operations teams to enhance system reliability, optimize data processes, and develop automation solutions to streamline operations. Your role will focus on minimizing downtime, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving continuous improvements in SAP BW and related data platforms.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Proactive Improvements: Proactively analyze incident patterns to provide diagnostic insights, helping to identify problems and driving their resolution in collaboration with product team. Increase data quality focusing on data quality monitoring and data reconciliation processes.
• Complex Problem Troubleshooting: Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex issues in collaboration with L3 and L4 support partners, including proactive management of alerts and participation in crisis management teams as required, regardless of working hours. Collaborate with Level 2 and Level 3 support teams on Problem Management to resolve repetitive issues, ensuring minimal system disruptions.
• Operational Excellence: Influence and collaborate with product teams to prioritize and swiftly implement user stories focused on operational improvements
• Automation: Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency in SAP BW data flows and reporting. Collaborate with Cybersecure team for improving security measures.
• Observability Utilization: Use observability toolbox such as Dynatrace, ServiceNow, Azure Monitor, and AquaSec to identify and implement product improvements and automations aimed at enhancing incident resolution, product performance and availability, enhance system stability and proactively detect issues.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and L3 engineers to find solutions that improve product stability and reduce incidents with proactive, long-term approach. Work closely with architects, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders to optimize SAP BW operations and drive strategic improvements.
• SRE Community Engagement: Work with Central SRE, SIAM manager, and the SRE Community of Practice to leverage synergies and share best practices. Stay up to date with the latest SAP BW technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.
ARE THESE YOUR SECRET INGREDIENTS?
• University bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Proven experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or similar role
• 3+ years of professional experience in complex IT landscape
• Strong expertise in SAP BW tools and technologies, including:
o SAP BW ODS Objects
o SAP BW Data Marts
o BEx Query Analyzer & Designer.
• Knowledge of SAP BI/BW/HANA and other SAP modules (SAP ECC, SAP CRM, etc.)
• Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence methodologies
• Hands-on experience in SAP BW data modeling, ETL processes, and performance tuning
• Proven experience in building end-to-end solutions, from requirement gathering to deployment.
• Familiarity with reusable components, workflows, and libraries.
• Strong expertise in automation, monitoring, and performance tuning
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during incident resolution
• Fluency in English (written and verbal)
