What works well?

I was interviewed for a position in the maintenance department. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. Right from the start of the interview, the team leader spent most of the time criticizing three members of his team, divulging internal and personal information that didn't concern me and should never have been brought up in a recruitment context. Rather than clearly explaining the tasks, the organization of the department or the expectations of the job, he tried to get me to take sides against his colleagues, by pointing out their supposed mistakes and shortcomings. I found this attitude far removed from the professionalism and respect expected of a manager. People already working in the company later confirmed to me that this type of behavior was habitual on the part of this same manager, which leads me to believe that it can have a negative impact on the working climate and team cohesion. All in all, I came away from this interview with a very negative impression and a total loss of interest in the job on offer, due to the attitude of the manager I met.

What could be improved?

My interview experience for a position in the maintenance department was very disappointing and did not correspond to what one would expect from a professional recruitment process. During the interview, the team leader gave almost no introduction to the job, the missions or the organization of the department. Instead, he criticized several members of his team at length, referring to internal information that didn't concern me and was of no use in assessing a candidate. He also tried to get me to take sides against his colleagues, which I found particularly inappropriate and indicative of a lack of respect for his team. After this interview, people already working in the company confirmed to me that this type of attitude was habitual on the part of this same manager, which worries me about the working climate in this department. So I came away from the interview with a very negative impression, and no desire to join a working environment where unprofessionalism seems to be tolerated.

What works well?

Free covered parking, investment in a new building which, despite its shaky finish, enables employees to work in better conditions (more space and new equipment), relatively flexible daytime working hours (relatively, because depending on the sector and team, it's difficult to take full advantage of them).

What could be improved?

This is an Italian company based in Switzerland, so a lot of information is being kept under wraps at the Geneva site in order to keep up appearances. Turnover is high (more than ten departures, at least half of which will be due to resignations in 2023), and this is how the company is losing out on its know-how, using this "come or go" policy. Management based on cronyism rather than merit. Employees' working conditions could be much better, whether in terms of pay or benefits, but management prefers to cut back on every last penny, even if this means lowering quality (a concrete example is the removal of the IT department, which has been present on the site for over twenty years, to be replaced by a deplorable IT department which wastes a considerable amount of employees' time). The lack of rigor in certain departments (on a machine that works with a password: a single password for several operators, which runs counter to good manufacturing practice, or training courses that you are made to read in 2 minutes and then sign without assimilating any of the content due to lack of time).

What could be improved?
