Thank you very much for this extremely positive feedback and for the 5-star rating! We are very pleased to hear that you experienced flexible and supportive management as well as a positive work environment. Your satisfaction is a wonderful recognition of the work accomplished by our teams, and we sincerely thank you for it. We have also taken note of your constructive comment regarding the size of our institution. You are right: this can sometimes slow down certain decision-making processes. This is a concern we share, and we are constantly working to streamline our internal processes to become more agile, without compromising our commitment to quality and collaboration. Thank you again for your trust and for this very encouraging feedback. The HR Team at the Hospice général

What works well?
Serious and structured recruitment process, with several stages (telephone interview followed by interview with managers). The whole process is quite demanding and can seem long, but it reflects the importance placed on the quality of profiles in the social sector. Overall positive experience, even if the process can be challenging.
What could be improved?
However, the process can seem long and sometimes repetitive. Greater fluidity between stages, as well as clearer communication about deadlines and application tracking, could improve the candidate experience.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience; we have taken note of your feedback and are sincerely considering it. We recognize that our recruitment process is demanding. This is a conscious choice: we place great importance on the quality of candidates and their alignment with our values, in a social sector where the issues are human and complex. This rigor reflects our high expectations, both for candidates and for our teams. That said, we are not set in our ways. We are constantly seeking to improve the candidate experience, particularly in the areas you highlighted—smooth communication, clear timelines, and personalized follow-up. Your feedback helps us move forward in this direction. We thank you for your honesty and wish you the best in your future endeavors. The HR Team at Hospice général

Thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the experience you had. You are right on one key point: a candidate who takes the time to apply deserves clear, personalized follow-up within a reasonable timeframe. The fact that you received only a generic response several months later does not reflect the quality of service we aim to provide, and we are sorry for that. We acknowledge that in this specific case, our follow-up process fell short. This does not reflect our usual standards, but we take your feedback very seriously. Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. Your feedback helps us improve our practices. Sincerely, The HR Team at the Hospice général

What works well?
It's true that if the goal is to give the impression that the application process with assessment is completely objective in the selection of candidates, it's ultimately no more so than in a 30-minute interview, rather than three hours of absurd group exercises (spaghetti and marshmallows!) and an interrogation worthy of the Gestapo at the end of the interview! Apparently, we might have a chance because we're also border residents, it's easier and it's less stressful...
What could be improved?
Just a formal 30-40 minute interview with HR (who, let's face it, are not serving the field, but rather pursuing their own interests, long before thinking about the beneficiaries themselves!). Then, half a day with the team and feedback from the team to the HR manager to continue the recruitment process. That's it.

Thank you for your feedback. First, we would like to reiterate that we fully stand behind our recruitment process. We made a deliberate and conscious decision to design a rigorous process that includes an internal assessment. Why? Because we do not want to rely solely on in-person interviews, which provide only a limited view of candidates. Our goal is to assess concrete skills, the ability to work in a team, and suitability for the realities of social work—aspects that an interview alone cannot evaluate. The so-called “spaghetti & marshmallow” exercise and other group scenarios are recognized tools for observing cooperation, stress management, and creativity in action. Far from being absurd, they provide real added value to our assessment. We nevertheless acknowledge that this process may be perceived as long and taxing. This is a choice we stand by, as it reflects the importance we place on the quality of recruitment in the social sector. Our HR teams operate with rigor, ethics, and compassion. We will continue to improve our process wherever possible (smoothness, timelines, follow-up), without compromising on our standards. The HR Team at Hospice général

What works well?
Negative candidate responses are briefly explained by HR.
What could be improved?
Interminable application deadline. The job interview lasts 4 hours, which is very unpleasant for me, and when I asked around in my network, I was obviously not the only one to find it a pain! The HR paradox: you're told that you shouldn't know the institution very well before you're employed there, and that it's normal not to know everything, but in an interview you have to master everything before you've even started. If you fail, you'll have to wait a year before you can apply again.
