Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team, responsible for leading the engineering capital program for our northern Switzerland sites. The ideal candidate will manage a team of project managers, engineers, and support staff, ensuring timely and cost-effective implementation of new or improved assets that align with evolving business needs and safety standards.

🔥 Your Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage a team of up to 10 project managers, engineers, and other resources, including contract resources.
  2. Oversee the engineering capital program, ensuring timely implementation of new or improved assets within agreed cost and safety parameters.
  3. Foster a culture of engineering professionalism and develop sustainable project management capabilities.
  4. Collaborate with technical resources, principal engineers, and key stakeholders to ensure projects meet HSE and business requirements.
  5. Balance workload and optimize resource utilization by coordinating with other Engineering Managers.
  6. Establish contracts and project platforms in partnership with Procurement to manage detailed engineering work efficiently.
  7. Influence and direct the scale, nature, timing, and execution of capital investments to meet changing business requirements.
  8. Implement and improve processes to define, estimate, execute, track, and report costs and progress of capital projects.
  9. Deliver robust applications for engineering capital approvals and project closure reports, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  10. Demonstrate HSE leadership by rigorously applying procedures and ensuring compliance with Syngenta codes of practice and country-specific engineering standards.

🎯 Your Profile:

  1. Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, including managing major engineering projects.
  2. Proven track record in project management within multinational companies, preferably in the Agrochemical, Pharma, Chemical, or process industry.
  3. Expertise in project definition, cost control, contract negotiation, and contract management.
  4. Experience managing projects across various locations and business units using internal and external resources.
  5. Demonstrated leadership, networking, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  6. Experience leading both internal and external resources.
  7. Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  8. Proficiency in English and German (a third European language is a plus).
  9. Project Management Professional certification or equivalent education.
  10. Strong technical skills to develop fit-for-purpose engineering solutions across a broad spectrum of projects.
