The Position

As GL accountant, you will be part of Varo’s Finance organisation. You will be responsible for reporting of 2 entities to the Group Consolidation as well as support accounting activities for the biggest entity within the Group. You will prepare the journals as well as cooperate and review work of other teams (APAR, Cash&Banking, Business Control, Treasury, BackOffice) and work as main point of contact for the Group Consolidation Team and both Internal and External auditors for the scope of your work.

Your key responsibilities

 

• Prepare journal entries

• Reconcile accounts

• Analyse financial information

• Ensure data accuracy

• Support monthly and annual close processes

• Prepare financial reports

• Assist various departments in accounting issues and queries

• Ensure financial records comply with internal controls and regulatory standards

• Support Auditor in conducting internal and external audits

• Create documentation for Finance processes where required

• Support the Team and other financial professionals in their duties as needed

• Any other ad-hoc reconciliations and reports

  
  

  Your profile - Essential

  knowledge, skills &

  abilities

   

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience

  • Knowledge of IFRS, Swiss GAAP is a plus

  • A hands on attitude and ability to work without supervision

  • Reliable and flexible

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong computer skills especially MS Office

  • Fluent in English, knowledge of German is a plus
    

    Qualifications

    • Relevant accounting degree

    • Part qualified such as ACCA, CIMA or willing to study is a plus
