As Data Governance Lead you play a pivotal role defining how we make the most of our critical data assets. You will be ensuring that an organization's data assets are well managed and utilized effectively, securely, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Your responsibilities encompass a broad range of activities focused on data quality, data protection, data usage, and overall management of data as a strategic asset. 
 

Your main responsibilities

  • Defining and Implement Data Governance Policies: Create and enforce policies and procedures that govern the lifecycle of data, from creation to retirement. This includes defining standards for data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Data Governance Framework: Design and implement a framework for data governance that includes roles, responsibilities, and processes for effective data management. Develop and monitor KPI's.
  • Promote Data Ownership: Advocate for the responsible management of data across the organization, including the designation of data stewards in various departments who are accountable for the quality and integrity of the data in their domain and drive data literacy across the business through education and training.
  • Ensure Data Quality: Implement processes and tools to monitor, analyze, and improve the quality of data throughout the organization, ensuring that data is accurate, complete, and reliable.
  • Data Inventory and Classification: Maintain an inventory of data assets within the organization, classifying data according to its sensitivity, regulatory requirements, and value to the organization.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Data Management: Extensive experience in data management roles, demonstrating a deep understanding of data quality, data architecture, data cataloguing and associated technologies
  • Data Governance: Direct experience in data governance, including developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate data governance concepts and policies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Industry knowledge: Knowledge of energy trading or finance is strongly recommended.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to data protection and privacy, such as GDPR. the industry.
  • Data Governance and Management: Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) are an advantage
