IT Internship (PiBS) - Mainframe System Specialist/Engineer

Would you like to study computer science at a university of applied sciences and are you looking for an internship? And you are primarily interested in computer technology and would like to work on various tasks in the areas of operating-, database- or communication-software as a System Specialist/Engineer?

Then start your career on the most performant, reliable and secure IBM Mainframe computers which are still the core of our Swiss Banking IT platform. We are offering a part-time position with an employment level up to 60% limited to a maximum of 4 years with the potential of a seamless transfer to an exciting permanent position after successful completion of your studies. This internship position meets the requirements for the work-study Bachelor's degree programme (PiBS) in a part-time model in which you will gain the necessary practical experience parallel to the four-year bachelor's degree. Project and bachelor work are also counted as internship performance.


Start date: 1st of September

Duration: 4 years

Academic requirements: High School Degree


Your field of responsibility


You will go through an introductory program in which you will be systematically trained in Mainframe architecture/functionality and in dealing with the z/OS operating system. Finally, you can obtain the IBM Mainframe System Practitioner certificate, issued by the European Mainframe Academy.

In your role as intern, you will

  • work on interesting projects in the area of Workload-, Performance and Capacity Management

  • program interfaces, self-service solutions, and simple applications

  • support and maintain the system logging processing

  • carry out daily system checks and create system analysis reports

  • take responsibility for a system standard software
