Position Summary

Reporting to the Director Capture Management Defence, the role of Commercial Manager Defence provides support in the capture management activities to mitigate commercial risk, maximise opportunities and ensure consistent commercial practices, reporting and compliance. This position is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex contract and commercial performance capability services within a matrix organisation structure. They are accountable to have a well-maintained understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative and mandated company frameworks both domestically and internationally as well as pricing structures and subcontracts management. 
The role requires a high level of engagement with the Defence Extended Leadership Team. You will be the subject matter expert on matters such as to commercial management of existing and new contracts, export controls and regulatory compliance (among other) as required to provide accurate advice relating to budget, cost and risk management pertaining to the Operations and capture activities of Jet Aviation Defence EMEA.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of commercially sound business solutions, program designs and pricing strategies for existing and new products, services and programs of Jet Aviation Defence
  • Solutions and advice to a wide range of complex commercial problems and independently developing approaches and solutions that are innovative and consistent with organizational objectives, directions and company governance.
  • Coordinates and supports the procurement and subcontracting activities in the capture process in collaboration with support function roles to ensure the highest level of compliance, probity, and value of money.
  • Lead role in preparation and facilitation of commercial and contractual negotiation and resolutions as part of the capture management process
  • Providing senior management advice on commercial business proposals through cost feasibility studies, and risk mitigation strategies to control and mitigate commercial, financial and regulatory risks.
  • Providing contract administration management expertise and coordinates / manages end-to-end support for future Defence commercial contracts and subcontractor arrangements in collaboration with the respective support function role
  • In conjunction with other Jet Aviation –stakeholders, establish and manage an appropriate solution for Defence Security and Export Control Capability including ITAR/EAR, ensuring compliance to national and international government enforced controls and regulations in the capture management process
  • In conjunction with other Jet Aviation stakeholders - application and management of export licenses and other associated regulatory documentation requirements In the capture management process
  • Other duties as may be directed from time-to-time.

Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Business Administration, Commerce, Law etc.) from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant commercial experience (Aerospace/Defence highly advantageous)
  • Solid contract management experience working with contract development, management, and closure.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a commercial role (within engineering or project management environment) in a larger organization or a matrix organization environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the identification of cost drivers and cost analysis under commercial agreements.
  • Experience in developing contract terms, conditions, and identifying associated commercial risk as they relate to a work scope and other technical documentation, with a balanced commercial approach.
  • Advanced negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
