Rahn+Bodmer Co. supports the USZ Foundation in promoting pioneering medical research at the
University Hospital Zurich
To mark its 275th anniversary this year, Rahn+Bodmer Co. is supporting the USZ Foundation with a donation of CHF 1.375 million. The partnership underscores the Bank's commitment to social and scientific causes, and it is leading by example in promoting cutting-edge medical research.
The donation will be paid out over five years in annual tranches of CHF 275,000 and support a specific project each year. In the first year ofthe collaboration, a major research project investigating the gut microbiome will be funded. In this study, Professor Michael Scharl ofthe Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is examining how certain bacteria in the gut can strengthen the immune response of affected patients and contribute to the cure of cancer and heart disease. The findings may make it possible to develop new, less aggressive forms oftreatment.
