Head of Capacity & Congestion Management (80-100%)
Ensuring electricity in Switzerland
You ensure that the capacities of the Swiss high-voltage grid are optimally utilised – in Switzerland and in the European network. As the driving force for capacity and congestion management, you develop solutions that intelligently connect market and grid and harmonise technical and economic requirements. Your tasks include in particular:
- Management and further development of the Capacity & Congestion Management team as well as ensuring sustainable development of organisation, processes and competencies.
- Anticipation of regulatory, market and operational changes and derivation of future-proof solutions for market, operational and cross-border planning.
Ensuring efficient and robust processes through an end-to-end understanding of capacity and congestion management across the entire organisation as well as through continuous performance monitoring and consistent further development.
- Active shaping of national and European cooperation as well as representing Swissgrid’s interests towards authorities, transmission system operators and market partners.
- Effective leadership of employees and resources through staff development, creation of a trusting and performance-oriented culture, and ensuring efficient management of budget, performance and risks.

You combine strong analytical and conceptual skills with confident presence, negotiation skills and an operational-strategic mindset. You communicate complex issues clearly, initiate changes proactively and create a motivating work environment. In addition, you bring the following:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, economics or a scientific discipline, ideally complemented by further education in economics
- 6 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, especially in electricity trading, power plant operation or grid operations management
- Sound knowledge of national and international energy markets as well as regulatory and legal frameworks
- In-depth knowledge of congestion and balancing group management as well as operational planning and a very good understanding of the interaction between market and grid operation
Experience in leading an organisational unit or completed training in personnel management
- Experience in negotiations with international partners and authorities as well as strong conflict and moderation skills
- Fluent German and English skills as well as advanced French skills
