Technical Service Employee 80 - 100%With around 1400 employees, the Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is the largest office within the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
The Zurich Remand Prisons (UGZ) are one of eight main departments of JuWe. They comprise seven facilities with around 735 prison places and about 500 employees. They are responsible for provisional detention, investigative and security custody, as well as early penal and measure enforcement until transfer to a correctional facility. Thus, they fulfil a central function within the Zurich justice system from the outset.
As part of the UGZ, Zurich West Prison is located in the Police and Justice Centre Zurich and has 241 detention places. It specialises in provisional detention and remand custody and plays a key role in the admission and initial care of detainees.
From 1 November 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking for a committed and responsible individual to strengthen our Technical Service in the "Central Services" department.
Your area of responsibility
- You carry out inspections, maintenance and repairs and resolve technical faults according to defined processes
- You plan and undertake recurring maintenance work as well as annual servicing
- Together with the responsible departments, you ensure structural and technical safety as well as reliable operation
- In internal projects, conversions and optimisations, you take on technical partial tasks and – depending on experience – the management of sub-projects
- You coordinate and accompany external specialists and service companies and liaise closely with internal departments
- You create and maintain technical documentation and reports
- With your expertise and ideas, you contribute to the continuous improvement of our technical infrastructure and processes
What you bring
- You have completed a basic technical education (EFZ), e.g. as an automation technician, electrician, electromechanic or mechanic with electrical/IT experience. A comparable technical qualification also suits us
- You bring broad technical understanding and practical experience in maintenance. Knowledge in electrical engineering, mechanics and/or technical IT systems is an advantage
- You think analytically and in a networked way and approach tasks independently, structured and solution-oriented
- You have good IT user skills and enjoy working with technical systems
- You can communicate well orally and in writing in German
- You are well organised, communicate clearly and enjoy working with various internal and external contacts
- You are willing to be on call outside regular working hours if necessary. In addition, you have an impeccable reputation and are at least 25 years old
