Head of Department Mathematics 80 %
from August 1, 2026
The PHTG is filling the position of Head of Department "Mathematics" (80%) from August 1, 2026, or by agreement. The Mathematics Department at PHTG is dedicated to learning and teaching mathematics in schools, focusing on building "mathematical literacy" and fundamentally "learning for all." Are you interested in working on these topics in a future-oriented way with a dynamic, interdisciplinary team? The position/function includes leading the department, conducting your own research and teaching on mathematical learning processes and mathematics instruction.
Your area of responsibility
- Leading the Mathematics Department
- Personnel management and development within the department
- Own research activities and active continuation of the research profile "Mathematics Didactics"
- Teaching development and quality assurance in the department
- Teaching activities
- Strengthening collaboration within the fourfold mandate of PHTG and participation in university committees
What distinguishes you
- Research-strong, subject-oriented, inspiring, and communicative leadership personality
- Several years of management experience as well as experience in personnel management
- University degree with outstanding doctorate, ideally in mathematics didactics
- Teaching diploma and several years of practical experience (target levels and/or comparable tasks)
- Higher education didactic qualification
- Very good knowledge of and networking within the Swiss education system
- Good integration in relevant national and international networks
