As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer – Maintenance and Facility Control who enjoys learning, collaborating, and contributing to something meaningful.Your Role & ImpactIn this role, you will help ensure that the production equipment and facility systems behind our life‑supporting medical devices operate safely, reliably, and compliantly. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Engineering, Quality, Production, and external partners in Switzerland and the US.Your work directly contributes to our quality promise: “Built as intended for your family.”What You’ll Do<ul><li>Take ownership of maintenance and facility control processes, supporting high equipment availability and reliability</li><li>Plan and implement improvement activities to strengthen compliant facility and utility operations</li><li>Act as technical owner for assigned equipment, utilities, or facility systems throughout their lifecycle</li><li>Manage change control activities in our PLM system (Windchill), including impact assessments and stakeholder training</li><li>Ensure clear, accurate, and GMP‑compliant documentation in our asset management system (Infor)</li><li>Plan and execute qualification and validation activities for equipment, facilities, and utilities</li><li>Investigate deviations, non‑conformances, or incidents in close collaboration with Quality Engineering</li><li>Lead improvement initiatives in area of responsibility or represent the department in large scale projects, e.g. in cooperation with Abbott sites in the US</li><li>Support internal and external audits and inspections as a subject‑matter expert</li><li>Ensure compliance with GMP, EHS, Abbott standards, and regulatory requirements</li></ul>What We’re Looking ForRequired<ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (ETH/FH or equivalent)</li><li>1–4 years of relevant professional experience (early‑career profiles welcome)</li><li>A structured, reliable, and independent working style</li><li>Fluent English (C2) and communicative German</li></ul>Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)<ul><li>Experience in medical devices or other regulated industries (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, GxP)</li><li>Exposure to production support functions</li><li>Experience or interest in qualification and validation activities</li></ul> If you don’t meet all of these but feel excited about the role, we still encourage you to apply.Why Join Abbott / Thoratec?At Abbott, we believe people do their best work when they feel supported, valued, and able to grow.
