You are passionate about animals and want to actively shape the future of a traditional, modern zoo? Then you are exactly right with us! As a group leader for animals, you take responsibility for the heart of Knie's Children's Zoo in our animal area with a dedicated team of animal keepers. With expertise, empathy, and leadership strength, you ensure that animal welfare, visitor fascination, and sustainability are in harmony.
You love combining daily close contact with animals with conceptual work in a responsible role? Bringing your plans successfully to fruition with courage, passion, and foresight? Then you are exactly right with us. We are looking for you from January 1, 2026, or by arrangement as
Your main tasks:
• Responsibility for the wildlife department
• Leadership of around 10 employees (including seasonal workers)
• Personnel scheduling
• Responsibility for animal-appropriate and visitor-attractive presentation of animals and facilities
• Organizing animal transports
• Curatorial animal stock management and tasks
• Participation in projects (e.g., planning and implementation of new animal enclosures)
• Close cooperation with the zoo veterinarian and zoo management
• Co-supervision of apprentices, zoo guides, and volunteer team
• Development of zoo and education offerings
Your profile:
• Completed training as an animal keeper (wildlife)
• Several years of professional experience in recognized zoos/animal parks in Europe
• Vocational trainer
• Leadership qualities as well as a strong awareness of role model function
• Communicative, cooperative, flexible, and team-oriented
• Analytical, holistic, and entrepreneurial thinking and acting
