About the job
Company Description
The Geneva Foundation for Sociocultural Animation (FASe) is a partner institution, funded by the Canton and municipalities, whose mission is to promote and maintain social cohesion in the canton of Geneva, that is to ensure the quality of the relationship between individuals and society. Through socio-educational, sociocultural and associative field actions carried out by centres and outreach teams, the Foundation meets the population's needs in terms of meeting, exchange, solidarity, citizenship, quality of life, with the general aim of preventing social exclusion.
Job Description
The St-Jean Community Centre is looking for a person with experience or a strong interest in working with adolescents, who will become the co-referent for the adolescent sector, while fully participating in the general missions of the animation team and the life of the Community Centre.
The role is structured around two complementary dimensions:
• A primary responsibility for co-reference and development of the adolescent sector
• Full participation in the general sociocultural animation missions of the Community Centre.
1. Ensure co-reference of the adolescent sector
Your responsibilities will notably include:
• Developing and ensuring open access for adolescents, adopting a posture of listening, availability, non-judgement and free adherence
• Encouraging the creation and maintenance of links with young people attending the Community Centre, being attentive to individual and collective dynamics
• Identifying the needs, interests, resources and emerging issues of the adolescent public and contributing to their consideration in the actions of the Community Centre
• Supporting young people in the development and implementation of collective, cultural, sporting, civic or leisure projects
• Developing approaches to reach diverse adolescent audiences and promote inclusion and diversity
• Seeking socio-educational attitudes adapted to the prevention and management of tension or conflict situations within spaces frequented by young people
• Developing consultation methods while maintaining collaborations with partners concerned with youth: schools, other animation structures, associations, municipal and cantonal services, social actors and, depending on the situation, families and other partners
• Participating in the evaluation of actions carried out in the adolescent sector
2. Participate in the general missions of the Community Centre
Beyond the primary responsibility of the adolescent sector, you participate in the various missions of a Community Centre, notably:
• Contributing to sociocultural animation activities aimed at the different audiences of the neighbourhood (children, families, seniors, all publics) and to the development of associative life
• Participating in initiatives promoting meetings, social bonds, moments of exchange between young and older people and neighbourhood residents, citizen participation, solidarity and better living together
• Participating in activities and projects during school holidays, as well as certain events in the evening or at weekends
• Contributing to the management, organisation and smooth running of spaces, equipment and activities
• Carrying out administrative tasks related to the role: planning, communication, reports, registrations, project follow-up and other tasks related to assigned responsibilities
• Supervising instructors and collaborating with them as well as with administrative and technical staff
• Collaborating with the management committee and showing interest in working with residents within commissions and all other people involved in activities
This role is part of a team dynamic where collegiality is paramount. The Community Centre favours an operation based on collaboration, consultation, complementarity of skills and sharing of responsibilities.
Qualifications
We are looking for a person who:
• Holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work or an equivalent qualification
• Has confirmed experience in sociocultural animation
• Has skills in project design, management and evaluation
• Is capable of working autonomously while having a strong team spirit
