About the job
The Military Department carries out the cantonal tasks anchored in military legislation. It is divided into two specialised areas: "District Command" and "Military Operations". The Military Operations provide a variety of services mainly with the District Command Glarus and the Army Logistics Base (LBA).
We are looking for a
Head of Military Operations 80–100 %
from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement, based in Glarus.
Tasks
- Professional and personnel management of the Military Operations including the rehabilitation unit and the weapons workshop
- Planning, coordination and monitoring of personnel and operational resources
- Technical, administrative and timely implementation of the army's service orders
- Responsibility for material management (receipt/return, storage, inventory)
- Responsibility for the delivery, return and maintenance of military facilities
- Coordination of military bookings according to the booking plan in cooperation with the military authorities
- Ensuring a customer- and service-oriented operation towards members of the army as well as other partner organisations such as civil protection, fire brigade and cantonal police
Requirements
- Completed technical, craft or commercial basic training
- Further training or practical experience in operational organisation, process management, logistics or similar is an advantage
- Proven leadership experience in a comparable environment
- Understanding of modern administrative, operational and security processes as well as good IT user skills
- High personal responsibility as well as strong organisational and coordination skills
- Strong service orientation and enjoyment of working with military, civilian and external partners as well as time flexibility
- Driving licence category B
