The Centre for Developmental and Neuropsychiatry (led by Dr (BG) Sandra Schleusener and Tabea Blatter) is part of the Clinic for Consultation, Geriatric and Neuropsychiatry (Clinic Director Dr med Rafael Meyer). It offers a unique nationwide assessment and treatment service for people with intellectual developmental disorders (learning disabilities) and mental illness. In addition to a neuropsychiatric outpatient clinic, the centre has an interdisciplinary assessment unit, a consultation and liaison service for facilities for people with intellectual developmental disorders, as well as a specialised ward that meets the latest scientific findings and quality standards in terms of facilities and treatment concepts.
Profile
- You have a completed degree or training in occupational therapy (BSc, FH, HF), preferably with experience in practical work in neuropsychiatry, geriatric psychiatry or geriatrics
- Preferably, you bring relevant further training in animal-assisted therapy as well as experience in handling animals
- You are characterised by high flexibility, resilience, personal responsibility and the ability to work in a team within an interdisciplinary context
- You have an interest in professional deepening of guideline-based work in the field of developmental and neuropsychiatry
Tasks
- You offer individual and group therapies for people with intellectual developmental disorders aged between 18 and 65
- You implement occupational therapy interventions within the treatment concept
- You support animal-assisted therapy during holiday cover (with the option to take over animal- and nature-based therapies in two years)
- You are part of the inpatient interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participate in achieving therapeutic goals
- You support the interdisciplinary team in diagnosis by using your assessment instruments
