Job Description
The ideal apprenticeship for young adults with a knack for animals and an interest in research!
In this varied apprenticeship, you will be involved in the following activities:
- Care, maintenance and breeding of laboratory animals including cage, food and water changes as well as daily health monitoring
- Organisation and execution of internal and external animal transports including checking delivery and hygiene documents
- Collection of samples (blood, faeces, urine, tissue) and administration of applications within the scope of experiments
- Ensuring the welfare of the animals in collaboration with animal protection and veterinary services
- Documentation of laboratory animals, performed tasks and any illness reports according to animal protection guidelines
The training lasts 3 years and takes place mainly on the ETH Hönggerberg campus and at a partner company on the Irchel campus.
Profile
You are skilled in handling animals and have the necessary sensitivity in their care and keeping. You also have good powers of observation, are attentive, patient, reliable and responsible. Furthermore, you are physically resilient and possess good motor skills.
You need a compulsory school leaving certificate for this apprenticeship and good grades in the following subjects:
- Biology
- English
